Capturing light & embracing the shadows

The love of birth has always been with me. When I was in college, a lovely woman that I admired, offered to show me her home birth video (on VHS). Completely captivated by her strength, and the power of embodiment, I knew at that time, there was one thing my life’s work would be about.

I've been a Labor and Delivery nurse now for over 10 years. This year also marks 10 years since I became a mother. In those years I have been honored to stand alongside hundreds of women laboring and giving birth. I have rocked with them to their labor song. The journey of birth is an underworld journey, often traveled in darkness, with deep surrender. The labor song is a melody now written on my soul because of the vulnerability that these women have shared with me in these sacred moments.

Some of my most treasured moments in this life have been the days I brought my own babies into this world. Birthing at both a birth center and within the hospital system, I felt entirely empowered and supported by all three of my birth teams. I'm here to support others on this journey because of the women that have gone before us, and because of the transformative power of the birth of my own babies.

I'm honored to spend my days with my incredibly supportive partner, Ryan, my three boys, Kinston, Jaspen, and Lowen, and the best "Mountain Bernie Dog" (as my son calls him), Timber. My best day is spent running in the mountains, sleeping under the stars or curling up by the fire with a good book. I'm a solid enneagram 4, a feeler, a talker, and in introvert in disguise.
